Thought for the Day – April 8, 2026
I have acupuncture on Wednesdays and very often I cannot think of anything better as a thought for the day than the autonomous vision I experience. Things are presented to me that I would never have thought of. Here is today’s experience as I recorded it when I got home.
Acupuncture. The scene began as usual. No one was present. On the stage was a large mirror, seemingly hanging in midair without any support. I could see the mirror, but it did not reflect anything that it should have. I kept watching and after a while things started to emerge from the mirror. The first things I saw were fountain pens and drawing pencils, but as soon as they emerged, they evaporated. After more objects emerged and evaporated, I knew I must respond to what emerged in some way. As I did this, the objects no longer evaporated but stayed present. The pencils and pens reappeared, and I welcomed them. Then words emerged and I welcomed them as well. Then musical notes. I tried to hum what they seemed to be forming. Then ideas appeared, in the form of illustrated sketches. Some ideas I did not grasp, and some seemed to be related to different things I am working on. As this went on, I became more excited and as the session ended, I felt this excitement continuing. It was if I had now a scrying mirror but operating in reverse and bringing things into my awareness in this extraordinary way.
Comments or questions are always welcome.

Hi Russ, even to get a vicarious glimpse, via the text of these visions, is a gift. I feel resonance with the phenomenon: objects materialising from the mirror-as-void, i.e., materially real possibilities, becoming stable entities only when observed by an active, participating consciousness (in the “welcome”). This is a unique record of an actual experience of what quantum mechanics tries to address from a mathematical perspective, collapse of the wave function, etc. To achieve this experience, the mirror has to be cleansed of reflecting the familiar, and yet still be a mirror. I believe its nature is the key to the difference between a visionary experience of, and a scientific theory of, materialisation. Thank you for sharing this.
Russ, your openness to receiving these messages is a wonderful gift that you have given yourself through an unflinching commitment to letting psyche speak unfettered. And you make the most relevant point that the rest of us can adopt to our advantage, and that is to be ‘welcoming.’ In one way, it is such a simple attitude, but in another, it takes great courage to lay down one’s defenses, open one’s arms, and say come in: ‘I welcome you.’
