In response to my “poetry invited post, blog member Estela Bourque has offered up a poem expressing what many are feeling, what many are questioning. There are no sure-footed answers yet, but immersing oneself in these questions and others swirling about, is something worth doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A State of Disbelief<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n These days I live in a<\/p>\n\n\n\n State of disbelief<\/p>\n\n\n\n As thousands of people succumb<\/p>\n\n\n\n To an invisible force and<\/p>\n\n\n\n Structures crumble in submission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is no sense to be made<\/p>\n\n\n\n Of this foe that has arrived<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the doorstep of humans<\/p>\n\n\n\n Unwelcome in its vengeance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Where has this enemy come from?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some speculate that it escaped from a lab<\/p>\n\n\n\n Others say it is conspiracy borne<\/p>\n\n\n\n Still others say it is Nature\u2019s revenge<\/p>\n\n\n\n Against the exploitation of life by humans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It has arrived during a dark time on Earth<\/p>\n\n\n\n When humans no longer live in harmony<\/p>\n\n\n\n With Nature or the Cosmos<\/p>\n\n\n\n But instead have gouged and destroyed<\/p>\n\n\n\n The land and habitat of animals<\/p>\n\n\n\n In pursuit of wealth and power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now the search is on for an antidote<\/p>\n\n\n\n A vaccine that will eradicate the virus<\/p>\n\n\n\n And once again restore the power of<\/p>\n\n\n\n Humans over Nature without<\/p>\n\n\n\n A deeper lesson being learned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What is the lesson?<\/p>\n\n\n\n That humans cannot control life<\/p>\n\n\n\n And continue to exploit it<\/p>\n\n\n\n For their benefit alone<\/p>\n\n\n\n Instead they need to cherish the<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gifts bestowed upon us all<\/p>\n\n\n\n With love, care and gratitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These days I wonder . . .<\/p>\n\n\n\n Where is the wisdom that will<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lead us back to the Holy Grail.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" In response to my “poetry invited post, blog member Estela Bourque has offered up a poem expressing what many are feeling, what many are questioning.
