I was<\/p>\n<p>fortunate to have met and been taught by many people who<\/p>\n<p>had direct experience with Jung.<\/p>\n<p>One such figure was the gnostic scholar, Gilles Quispel, an<\/p>\n<p>extraordinary man. He was instrumental in securing the Jung<\/p>\n<p>Codex purchased by the Institute in Zurich as a birthday<\/p>\n<p>present for Jung.<\/p>\n<p>The memory that stands out to me is one training seminar<\/p>\n<p>in the early days. At one point, as we were discussing the nature<\/p>\n<p>of \u201cmystery,\u201d he stopped us. He put his index finger to his lips<\/p>\n<p>as if telling us to hush. Then he said something I\u2019ll never<\/p>\n<p>forget:<\/p>\n<p><em>Mystery is not to be solved, or resolved, or dissolved. Mystery<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>is to be embraced and loved, and out of that will come one\u2019s<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>deepest sense of life, meaning, and purpose.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I remember thinking then that dreams are a mystery and<\/p>\n<p>what Quispel was saying was true of dreams as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SATURDAY MEMORY December 28, 2024 &nbsp; I did my analytical training in the late 60s and early 70s.
