
{"id":1016,"date":"2020-06-22T10:01:51","date_gmt":"2020-06-22T18:01:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ralockhart.com\/WP\/?p=1016"},"modified":"2020-06-22T10:01:53","modified_gmt":"2020-06-22T18:01:53","slug":"bones-from-heaven","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ralockhart.com\/WP\/bones-from-heaven\/","title":{"rendered":"Bones from Heaven"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is a new poem from blog member Chris Bourque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Bones From Heaven<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She lay on the sand.<br \/>A warm July day in Southeast Alaska.<br \/>Little wind, endless daylight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It felt good to rest,<br \/>to feel the warmth of the sun.<br \/>Her eyes closed, her mind drifted.<br \/>Listening to the distant tide and<br \/>the voices of her children slowly ebbing<br \/>further and further away.<br \/>She felt at peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Suddenly, something hard fell on her thighs.<br \/>Startled, she bolted upright to see who had<br \/>disturbed her peace and<br \/>thrown what she quickly saw was a small branch.<br \/>Ready to admonish her children,<br \/>she could quickly see they were much too far away.<br \/>Getting fully to her feet, she looked around<br \/>and found no one else within sight,<br \/>No trees close by.<br \/>No way to explain this branch<br \/>that had fallen upon her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking closer she saw it wasn\u2019t wood<br \/>that had fallen upon her thigh, but bone.<br \/>She was sure of it.<br \/>She scanned the distant trees one more,<br \/>looking for that tell tale splash of white<br \/>amidst the green<br \/>letting her know an eagle was around,<br \/>but \u2013 nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was a little late for nesting material,<br \/>but an eagle could have dropped part<br \/>of its\u2019 find on its way along the shore.<br \/>But, she hadn\u2019t heard the eagles piercing call,<br \/>nor did she see any in flight as she scanned the sky.<br \/>She laid back down and mused<br \/>that this was a bone fallen from heaven,<br \/>dropped to remind her of the preciousness of life.<br \/>Perhaps done as a mischievous act<br \/>by her friend who had passed away<br \/>a year ago to the day.<br \/>But where would a bone come from in heaven?<br \/>Did they have lavish feasts with ribs?<br \/>Could the bone be from a different dimension,<br \/>contact from one of her many other selves<br \/>living in nearby parallel lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As she shared her story,<br \/>all of her family and friends<br \/>insisted it had to be a clumsy<br \/>eagle that lost part of its\u2019<br \/>nest repair load.<br \/>But as time went by,<br \/>she preferred her thought<br \/>that this was a bone from heaven.<br \/>Contact made by a lost loved one,<br \/>telling her to \u201cWake up!<br \/>There\u2019s more to life than you know.<br \/>Don\u2019t let it slip through your fingers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, she held that bone from heaven in her mind<br \/>as she loved her family, her friends, her life<br \/>more and more every day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here is a new poem from blog member Chris Bourque.
