This site is the access point for all the online activities of “ral” otherwise known as Russell Arthur Lockhart, Ph.D. I work as a Jungian Analyst, Writer, Editor & Publisher (The Lockhart Press), and Consultant. The focus in all my activities is the psyche as it expresses itself in dreams, imagination, language and culture. Your comments are most welcome and appreciated.
Dear Dr. Lockhart,
I am writing you as a member of Apple Farm Community in Three Rivers, Michigan. I remember very well your visit to Apple Farm and the “blue letter” which had been sent to you inviting you to come and speak to us. The night before you received this your wife had had a dream which indicated you would receive a blue letter and that you should pay attention to it.
Now, many years later a group from AF is re-reading “Psyche Speaks”; this has prompted my search for your whereabouts. I simply wish to express that I am deeply grateful for your work and your life and remember well your meaningful visit to us those many years ago. I myself have since then become a Jungian clinician (C.G.Jung Inst., Chicago) after 25 years of building houses.
Apple Farm is turning 50 this year and we are planning a celebration near Helen’s “109th” birthday in October (18-20). What a pleasure it would be if you could join us!
Sincerely yours, Bruce Heustis
Dear Mr Lockhart,
It took a while for me to get to this area of your site and this morning i see bruce heustis’ letter. Im a part of the book group he speaks of. We finished Psyche and Eggs and i just purchased 9 copies of Dreams for our group and several others who will find great comfort in it. Plus, Mircea Eliade has been a longtime favorite of mine.
I cannot remember when it was i realized i was getting clues and that when i followed them life got better, more meaningful, not so alone.
An example: for a couple years i got messages from someone then i finally thought to say, who are you? The answer came back, I am Elijah. So, as time passed, when i would be in a small group i would ask if anyone had a story about Elijah. Usually someone spoke about Elijahs empty chair.
However, one night i asked the question and as everyone in the group moved into the next room, a man i had never met said i do, and its not from a book either, i lived in the town he was from in the holyland. He is the prophet who stood on the wall holding a string. He said, in the end you will be on one side or the other and it will be this clear. Those clues came during the 18 years i was an elected official and it really helped. I found Apple Farm the same way.
What a great way to live. Thanks for everything you give us. Mary b
Hello Mr Lockhart – your book was suggested to me and in the process of searching for it I found your notebook and it opened to your comments on the word moiling – to soften. I note that all the words in your dream are doing words.
But of interest for me was that I am in the process of weaving a basket in the manner taught to me by an Aboriginal woman in Australia. The reeds are collected and dried for several months but must be softened by soaking before they can be woven.
My weaving has great depth of meaning for me and incorporates what I call ‘playing with words’ – the need for such only discovered this week. The gift in your comments was not lost in time. Viv
